Week 6 – Exploring the Pedro’s Castle Bay
February 5th – February 11th
Through the Lens – keep up with the latest encounters we are experiencing out on the boats. As a lot of you know I rarely dive without a camera, so keep up with this blog and check out whats through my lens week to week!
Week 6 comes from a single dive I took some customers on at Pedro’s Reef. Situated past Spotts Beach this little bay has 20 foot bluff walls descending into the water that have been on my mind for awhile. On the morning of the 8th we visited this area for the first time. I spoke about my want to go explore the outer edges of this dive site to my divers on the boat and everyone seemed very interested. For this dive I was shooting my Sony RX100IV in the Fantasea Line FRX100IV Housing System shooting some more 4K video content for an upcoming project.
On the morning of the 10th I brought out my DSLR to ensure I could also show this beautiful mini wall with photos as well.
February 10th – Pedro’s Reef | Exploring the Mini Wall
A maze of swim throughs lays waiting just under the boat.
A huge colony of Blade fire coral.
Huge towers of coral make the top of the reef look like a field of trees.
The mini wall is literally covered with common sea fans and multiple types of coral.
A vibrant orange sponge on the Pedro’s rock wall.
Common Sea Fans make the shallow ledge look like a garden of color.
This tower of coral rests on the edge of the mini wall just below waves overhead.
With so many colors and such shallow water this mini wall could keep me busy for the whole dive.
A school of Blue Tang swept across the top of the reef as we finished our dive under the boat.
